Wylam "Meet and Greet"

Today I met up with one of the co-founders of the Wylam brewery, Chris Lee.
I met him alongside a number of my fellow pupils, in the Tyne Bar, located on the Newcastle quayside.

The meet up began at around 3:30pm, and we all sat around him whilst he discussed the brewery, and showed us some of the key ingredients used to make the beer.

He brought along packs of seeds such as hops, barley, and yeast, as seen in the image above, as well as a 4th ingredient, that being caraway.

Caraway will be a big ingredient used in the 'Chara' brew, that is currently being developed at Wylam brewery.

It is a very sweet tasting seed, and I tried some whilst at the meetup.
I also tried for the first time, a bottle of Wylam beer, and because I can't try the 'Chara' brew, I chose another, one called Magick.

It had a very bitter taste to it, quite like a lot of beer that I have tried, however it had quite a sweet aftertaste.
It was very enjoyable, its just a shame that the brew is hard to find in stores.

I took some notes, so I will use it to help aid me, as I rapidly approach my concept stage.
Overall it was a very interesting day, and I am very happy that I went along, as I knew that it would be a massive benefit to me.

Thomas.
